Two US firefighters from Kalamazoo, Michigan are, no pun intended, under fire for snapping a smiling selfie outside of a burning home.

The house fire occurred a week ago and ended up being fatal for two people.

You can see a screenshot of the selfie, which Fox 17 grabbed before it was hastily taken off Facebook, here.

The two firefighters are under investigation for their behavior by the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety.

Public Safety Officials Are Not Immune to Selfie Craze

As it turns out, New Jersey firefighters are also getting a lot of attention this week for doing the exact same thing.

As New Jersey 101.5 reports, this time the fire was on a boardwalk in Ocean Grove and the firefighters were volunteers.

A Twitter user posted a photo of the firefighters tackily posing in front of the burning businesses and captioned it, “I’m sure the owners of the businesses that burned at the NJ Boardwalk yesterday appreciate that you all had enough time to pose for these great pics of yourselves with their livelihood going up in smoke in the background. Very classy.”

New Jersey officials came out and said that there are no rules on what their firefighters do on a state level, but that most fire departments have rules regarding phone use while on the job.

But, is it enough? Or should we implement rules ensuring this type of behavior no longer happens?
